Saying Goodbye

Saying Goodbye

When my days have ended
and life's short journey is done;
give my body to the warm brown earth
but release my soul to the sun.

When these tired old eyes stop seeing
and life's blood flows in me no more,
just hold my hand as I am leaving.
Help guide me to a peaceful shore.

Don't let me hear you weeping
as I smile my final goodbye.
This is only a brief farewell my dear
and no reason for you to cry

For I have been loved so dearly,
have been cherished until the end
that my only regret at leaving
is saying goodbye to you my friend.
