Loving You

Loving You

The night is dark and still.
A million stars dance across the horizon.
Breezes gently blow, stirring up the night musk
of spring lilac and honeysuckle.
We lounge together on an old porch swing,
voices low, whispering into the quiet of the night.
A small bead of moisture gleams on your lower lip.
I restrain myself from licking it off
and sampling the sweet intoxication of your kiss.
Your hands gesture and I sigh,
I visualize them traveling over my skin,
seeking out forbidden places, taunting and teasing.
I lay my head back
and bask in the deliciousness of the sensations.
Your voice murmuring "hello my love" stirs me
Languidly I open my eyes, sighing
and swallow deeply.
Those words are not meant for me.
Amanda is standing in front of you.
looking beautiful and serene.
You gather her into your arms and kiss her lips.
My heart clenches in pain and I die a thousand tiny deaths
Amanda is my best friend and you belong to her.
I smile and bury the secret deeply within my chest;
she and you must never know;
Amanda I love like a sister,
But heaven help me....I love you more.
